Our List of Knots

Albright: To connect different sizes of mono together, or connecting mono to spectra.  Popular for tying a leader onto a marlin or swordfish rig. (Diagram)

Bimini Twist: To form a double line.  Can tie it short for bait fishing large tuna for e abrasion resistance at gill plate.  Tied as a shock leader for big game trolling also for loop to loop spectra or wind on connections. (Diagram)

Blood: For connecting lines of similar diameter.  Do not use for spectra connections. (Diagram)

Double Uni: Great for splicing two lines of similar size.  Could use it to connect spectra to mono. (Diagram)

Dropper Loop: For tying a loop above sinker, or for a ganglion of hooks.  Also you can cut one side of the finished loop for a single line to hook. (Diagram)

Improved Clinch: General purpose knot for tying swivel or hook to line.  Can be doubled before tying for strength. (Diagram)

Offshore Swivel: To connect a swivel to a double line. (Diagram)

Palomar: High strength knot for attaching a hook or lure. (Diagram)

Perfection Loop: For free swinging hook connection, or to space the hook back in a trolling lure, or to tie a loop in the end of a line.  Used by Mexican cruiser and panga fisherman.  Often called a Mexican loop knot.  Can use for heavy monofilament leader too.  Also used to tiea lure for a free connection (e.g. leadhead on a swimbait). San Diego Jamb: Made popular by the San Diego long range fleet.  Very high strength knot for tying a hook, swivel or lure to your line.  Line can be doubled before tying to increase strength in heavier lines. (Diagram)

Snell: Used for secure connection to hook.  Used to tie a double rig for halibut fishing. (Diagram)

Spider Hitch: Used to tie double line or dropper loop, or a quick double line.  Do not use for spectra.  High strength dropper loop: tie the sinker to tag end. (Diagram)

Surgeon's: Like an albright knot it is for connecting two different diameter lines. (Diagram)

Uni: Strong general purpose for tying a hook, swivel or lure.  Also for back to back to connect similar size lines, or spectra to monofilament line. (Diagram)
